A snowmobile racing original, Leroy Lindblad began his snowmobile racing career in 1967, just as the factory racing team era began. A development engineer and member of the always-successful Polaris team, Lindblad distinguished himself as a skilled tuner and driver, establishing his credentials as one of snowmobile racings greatest drivers early in his career with back-to-back wins in the classic Winnipeg-to-St. Paul International 500 in 1970 and 1971.

A multi-talented team player, Lindblad made steady contributions to the racing effort at Polaris, helping develop engines and clutching while continuing to develop as a driver. His many wins in the early 1970’s included cross-country and oval victories at the Rhinelander Hoday, the Ironwood Olympus and the South Dakota Governor’s Cup plus domination of the 1974 Soo 500 enduro in Michigan.

Trapped to head up the return to racing by Ski-Doo in 1975, Lindblad helped build a team around new Ski-Doo designs during the emergence of very competitive Super Stock oval track racing era of the middle and late 1970’s before returning to Polaris where he worked with the racing team until it was disbanded in 1978.
