Hunter Houle Memorial New Building Fund for the Snowmobile Hall of Fame
Memorial Fund to Help Build New Museum through Legacy of Fallen Racer

The sport of snowmobile racing lost a shooting star when 18-year-old Hunter Houle died while preparing for the season opening USXC cross-country race on Pine Lake, Minn., Jan. 6, 2017.

The son of Snowmobile Hall of Fame inductee Steve Houle (2016), grandson of SHOF inductee Charlie Lofton (1991) and nephew of Mike Houle (2009), Hunter was following in the tracks of greatness while pursuing his passion to race snowmobiles. His race…his lifetime…ended too quickly, but its impact can last for years to come.

The Houle family, in partnership with the Snowmobile Hall of Fame in St. Germain, Wis., has created the Hunter Houle Memorial SHOF New Building Fund, the purpose of which is to help fund the creation of an additional new museum.

The planned new museum is a 60 x 100-ft., 2-story building adjacent to the current building that will more than double the current area. Its purpose is to fully and faithfully preserve and display the rich history of our sport while honoring the racers and the people who have shaped it in the past, present and future. The building plans can be viewed at www.snowmobilehalloffame.com/expansion-plans/.

The Hunter Houle Memorial New Building Fund is a way for you to donate to the new SHOF building in Hunter’s name. A special plaque dedicated to Hunter and featuring the names of those who donated to this fund will be on permanent display at the SHOF. “Since Hunter died, people ask us what they can do for our family,” said Steve and Charlene Houle. “Our answer is to hug your kids. For those inspired to do something more, the Hunter Houle Memorial SHOF New Building Fund is a tribute to the sport that’s so dear to our family, and an honor to Hunter’s legacy.”

SHOF President Craig Marchbank added, “We are honored that the Houle family offered this memorial opportunity in the name of Hunter, and we are grateful to the donors who contribute in his name.”
