Emerging as a talent in the early days of racing, Duane Eck began his career as an independent but moved quickly to the pro ranks racing for Monty White, a western Ski-Doo distributor. Competing throughout the western states from his home in Idaho, Duane quickly showed his racing prowess, amassing an amazing record of championships in every western state where circuit racing existed, including the Northwest Championship of the Western Snowmobile Association in 1969.
After setting a speed record aboard the Ski-Doo Double Eagle at West Yellowstone in the spring of 1969, Duane joined the Ski-Doo factory team where he introduced new equipment like sharpened ski bars and hydraulic brakes to meet the changing demands of oval racing. After leaving the Ski-Doo team in 1973, the durable driver continued to race Arctic Cat and Polaris snowmobiles in cross-country events in the west, winning his last major race, the St. Anthony, Idaho, “101” in 1988 at the age of 54
