Mike Veenema, age 59, of Hudsonville MI and Oak Island NC, was called home to his Lord and Savior on July 28, 2026.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 24 years, Bridget Veenema; mother, Carol (Schut) Veenema; siblings, Christie Pikaart, Todd and Heidi Veenema; nieces and nephews, Jordan, Conner, Tayler; great nieces and nephews, Khloe, Grey, Brooks, Ty, Tate; aunts and uncles, Gerald (Carole) Schut, Gary (Elaine) Schut, Don (Sandy) Schut; and his extended Venturi family.

Mike had a gift for connecting with anyone he met – with his big laugh and zest for life. His kindness, generosity, work ethic, and faith were instilled in his character. He was a loyal and devoted soul with a keen curiosity for people, places and things. His nickname, “Turbo”, reflects his passion and expertise for building championship snowmobiles, where his legend on tracks across Michigan will live on in the hearts of all his racing buddies. His happy places were many: grilling a steak, drinking a beer, cranking a wrench, telling a story, and above all being with family and friends.

Visitation will be held at VanderLaan Funeral Home, 4917 32nd Ave. Hudsonville, MI, on Sunday, August 16, from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Memorial services to be held at Hudsonville Reformed Church, 3950 Highland Dr. Hudsonville, MI, at 11:00 am on Monday August, 17. Please join us for a Celebration of Life luncheon following the memorial service at The Pinnacle Center, 3330 Highland Dr Hudsonville, MI.

The passion that the late, great Mike Veenema had for snowmobile racing is virtually unrivaled, particularly in oval, enduro and straightline competition. The joy he felt and shared by being an insider in the snowmobile racing community – whether at a M.I.R.A. race, at the Eagle River World Championship or when piloting his own sled at an asphalt track – was abundantly clear on his expressive face and in his hearty laughter. With that spirit in mind, his surviving family has asked – in lieu of flowers – that memorials be directed to the competition-focused Snowmobile Hall of Fame in St. Germain, Wisconsin. There, a permanent memorial will commemorate his love of the sport.
