In January we will celebrate Mike’s career with team Yamaha on the 50th anniversary of what is yet hailed as the “greatest world snowmobile championship race in history”.
Mike won two world championships in his three years with Yamaha. Mike was the first ever two-time and back-to-back world champion. And then went on to join factory Ski-Doo.
You will want to be at the Derby to witness what will indeed be a historic occasion. The actual 433 Yamaha Mike won on in 1971, along with a 797 factory Blizzard like Yvon had driven, will be on full display in the expo center.
But wait … we will also be firing up that SR 433 Yamaha, yes on alcohol, for Mike to do a few parade laps during Friday Night Thunder and then again on Sunday prior to the World Championship final.
You will also be able to meet up with Mike, along with other VIP’s and Celebrities from this “boom time” era of the snowmobile industry, in the display booth to obtain their photos and autographs.
Then buy some 50 / 50 raffle tickets to help us raise money for three great causes; the Snowmobile Hall of Fame in St. Germain, the International Snowmobile Hall of Fame in Eagle River and Explore The Trades a non-profit organization for the technical trades.
Please join us at the Derby for a “don’t want to miss this event” and then join us again in February for the special Ride with Mike Trapp.
