One of snowmobiles racing’s most successful independent drivers, Bob Elsner was a consistent winner in the modified classes in oval racing throughout the 1970’s, In 1975, after Dave Thompson was injured, Bob became the first Team Arctic driver not from northern Minnesota.

Bob continued his steady competitiveness after joining the factory race team and the pro ranks. Bob won the Sno Pro high-point Driver of the Year title in 1978 and won the World’s Championship for Arctic Cat in 1979. He was a top five-point finisher in each of his seven seasons as a pro-driver.

Bob enjoyed one of the longest, most consistent and successful careers ever posted in snowmobile racing He was a leader at Arctic Cat during the transition to independent suspensions from the legendary leaf sprung Arctic Z race sleds of the middle 1970’s.
