Beginning his racing career as a teenager in 1968, Darcy Ewing was a familiar driver at events all across the midwestern U.S. and Canada during a long career that saw him become a fixture on the USSA racing circuit and one of the winningest drivers in snowmobile oval racing ever. A versatile and durable driver, Ewing raced Cross-Country, Enduro, Snocross, Drags, Hillclimb and Ice Oval with stock body sleds and all kinds of modified and formula machines during an extended career stretching over nearly four decades.

Competing as Gemini Racing and always as an independent, Ewing battled well financed factory team drivers to post a record beyond the imagination of all but a few other, more specialized competitors.

In this long career, Darcy won titles at nearly every venue, posting two Polaris Cups in the 70’s, two Formula I Canadian Championships and 12 World Series Titles in the 80’s and five straight Eagle River Pro Sprint championships. He was the man to beat in the Pro Sprint class, he posted several undefeated seasons on his way to a long string of U.S. and Canadian season titles.

Praised by long time sponsor Olav Aaen as the ideal development partner, Ewing’s Gemini Racers were always a successful test bed for Aaen clutches, shocks, engines, carburetors, injection systems and high-performance exhaust systems. At the time of his accidental death in a training mishap in September, 2002, Ewing was in his fourth decade of competition, recognized as one of the fairest and friendliest drivers of all time in snowmobile racing.
