JACK STRUTHERS

One of cross-country racing’s most successful drivers, Jack Struthers began his remarkable career as a youngster racing out of his father’s Polaris dealership in the mid-seventies, competing in local club races. He broke into the pro ranks in 1983 racing a Polaris 340 and just three years later claimed his first Rocky Mountain Championship, The Two-Man Title in 1986 teamed with Lance Hess.

During the late 80’s Struthers won many individual races before beginning a string of championships in 1990 in the Rocky Mountain Cross Country circuit that spanned five seasons from 1990 through 1994. Jack raced on a three-man team in ’91 and ’92 with Doug Lasher and Tim Schelhorn, a team remembered for winning every race they entered during a long and successful run in tough three-man western Cross-Country competition. Switching to two-man racing in the years 1993 through 1994, Struthers teamed with Schelhorn to rack up two more consecutive championships.

It was during this reign as master of the western circuit Jack also put together three legendary wins in the most famous event of all Cross-Country Racing, The Ontario-Minnesota 3-day I-500. But cross- country wasn’t Struthers only talent. He also raced Snocross where he once won all four of the Pro classes – 440 Stock, 600 Stock, 600 Open and Open at the MRP West Yellowstone Snocross finale in 1995. He raced one more season in MRP, winning another points championship before calling it a career in 1996.
