It is with great sadness we announce the passing of one of our inductees, Audrey Decker. We extend our sincere condolences to the family during this difficult time. Audrey had been bravely battling Parkinson’s Disease.

Audrey was added to the Wall of Fame in 1989, as well as being inducted in 2018 with the Decker Family.

In a Snow Goer interview, her husband, Dick Decker recounted how he purchased the family’s first snowmobile in 1964 when one of the sons saw it outside a local hardware store. Since then, the family’s life centered on snowmobiling.

As soon as the boys (Steve, Allen, Mike, and Chuck) started racing, Dick and Audrey started as well. “At that time when we were all racing back then, we were the biggest team on the circuit,” Dick Decker told us in January. “We had 15 sleds that we would race – we had one semi and we had to add a second one to it.”

Audrey raced in Powder Puff racing back then, but she quickly she got out of that to race against the men… She won a lot of races and was always very competitive.

Besides owning the legendary Derby Track in Eagle River Wisconsin for years, Audrey and Dick owned a powersports dealership in Marshfield, Wisconsin for a decade. The duo started a snowmobile touring business that led rides all over North America, as well as to Iceland and Scandinavia. Once a person had been on one of the Decker Tours, they were treated like extended family by Dick and Audrey – invited to visit in the summer for a pontoon ride and general hospitality on the Eagle River chain of lakes.

Audrey and Dick were married for 65 years.

Chuck Decker summed up the families loss in one great social media post. It reads: “I guess it’s only fitting that my mom was the first of Team Decker’s to get to Heaven. Second just wasn’t in her vocabulary. God Speed Mom Love you more than anything.”
